YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT THE DMV PALESTINE SOLIDARITY ENCAMPMENT

While the remaining student-organizers have been barricaded into University Yard by the police, they are still holding their ground! Hundreds of supportive community members, and other students, continue to surround the encampment, and have even begun setting up tents in the streets around University Yard.

However, at least seven students have already been suspended from the university, and the cops are still lurking, waiting for an opportunity to smash the DMV Palestine Solidarity Encampment. Organizers are calling for supporters to flood GWU administration with emails and phone calls. For the script and other information you need to help, see the fliers and the link for scripts, templates, and which GWU officials you should message.

🚨‼️FLOOD GW ADMIN WITH EMAILS‼️🚨

bit.ly/gwemailflood

GW students are calling for a meeting with the administration to discuss our demands.

They are as follows:

1. Drop the charges against pro-Palestine student organizers and organizations

2. Protect pro-Palestine speech on campus

3. Divest from companies selling tech and weapons to the zionist regime

4. Immediately disclose all endowments and investments

5. End all academic partnerships with the zionist state of israel

This administration has the time to send continuous threats of interim suspensions and to clear out our encampment, but they haven’t made the time to sit down with us to discuss how they will listen to our message.

We have said it before and we will say it again.

We are NOT leaving, until our demands are met. We will NOT rest until GW divests.

CORRECTION/CONTEXT

We never included the initial news of the DMV Palestine Solidarity Encampment at George Washington University. The following passages are quoted from the D.C. Student Encampment for Gaza Message Board on Telegram, which we encourage you to follow for the most up-to-date news by and for student-organizers. The live updates from the GW Hatchet are another way to keep informed of developments on the ground.

🚨 HAPPENING NOW! 🚨 ALL OUT TO GW! JOIN THE DMV STUDENT ENCAMPMENT FOR GAZA! ⛺️ NO BUSINESS AS USUAL AFTER 200 DAYS OF GENOCIDE! ‼️🗣️

Organized by the DMV Coalition of Students for Justice in Palestine, a joint encampment has begun this morning at George Washington University Yard. As our people discover mass graves of our martyrs in Gaza, it is our moral imperative to disrupt business as usual for an end to institutional cooperation in genocide.

While the encampment is taking place at GW, it is a space organized by students across the DMV — George Washington, George Mason, American, Georgetown, UMD, UMBC, Howard, and Gallaudet — for students across the DMV as a united demonstration of our power, uplifting our collective demands for financial transparency, boycotts and divestment from the zionist state, and an end to the racist repression pro-Palestine students.

We will continue to organize as a collective, mobilizing to each of our campuses whenever necessary, until we achieve divestment from occupation, apartheid, and genocide on all our campuses. Our unity these past six months has achieved multiple divestment resolutions on our campuses and an institutional call for a ceasefire.

THE STUDENTS ARE MORE UNITED THAN EVER! DISCLOSE, DIVEST, FREE PALESTINE!We will continue to organize as a collective, mobilizing to each of our campuses whenever necessary, until we achieve divestment from occupation, apartheid, and genocide on all our campuses. Our unity these past six months has achieved multiple divestment resolutions on our campuses and an institutional call for a ceasefire.

THE STUDENTS ARE MORE UNITED THAN EVER! DISCLOSE, DIVEST, FREE PALESTINE!

WASHINGTON DC

George Washington University (GWU) Administration and MPD threaten students with punitive actions TONIGHT! We will not allow their zionist, fascist threats to deter us. Students are calling on the DMV community of conscience to rally in full force at 6 pm today at George Washington University Yard to protect our students as they take a principled stand for Gaza!

Students have been instructed by the corrupt and complicit GWU admin that they must leave by 7pm. After years of targeted attacks and threats by the GWU administration against Palestinian and pro-Palestine students, their tactic to suppress the students’ right to protest is another despicable attempt to silence dissent and questioning of the University’s complicity in the Zionist settler colonial project in Palestine and Genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Rally TONIGHT to strengthen the encampment in solidarity with Palestine and in protest of the university’s zionist policies.

WE DEMAND:

1. Drop the charges against pro-Palestine student organizers.
2. Protect pro-Palestine speech on campus.
3. Divest from companies selling technology and weapons to the zionist regime.
4. Immediately disclose all endowments and investments.
5. End all academic partnerships with the zionist state of Israel

If you cannot make it tonight and live in the DMV, there are other ways to show support! Hopefully, the encampment receives the solidarity it needs to survive to tomorrow. They will continue to need assistance. Trinity University students have taken the initiative to arrive at the camp in unison tomorrow morning.

I am calling as a concerned community member. I am told that protestors have established an encampment on campus and that police and administration are threatening them with arrest. After the shocking and unjustifiable violence at UT Texas, Emerson College, and the USC in Los Angeles by the hands of police yesterday, I would hate to see Emory University become a site of violence and repression. I am asking that you allow protesters to continue their activities and to have law enforcement stand down.

If you are a student-worker, you might find this piece relevant and useful:

Students Belong in the Union!
This essay was adapted from a pamphlet written by UK based members of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) union for student-organizers. Given the upsurge in undergraduate student-worker organizing in the last few years, it is an essential development we must analyze.

Who are the Angry Education Workers?

This is a project to gather a community of revolutionary education workers who want to chart a course towards a socialist education system. We want to build contacts between education workers around the world to become a platform for educators of all backgrounds and job roles to share workers’ inquiries, stories of collective action, labor strategy, theoretical reflections, and art. We can then workshop, translate, and boost each others' work.

If you are a union, political collective, mutual aid network, or other organization, and want us to publish materials for you, please reach out!
